Charming cottage. 5 stars We came here for a week over Easter. The cottage is clean and comfortable. We came by public transport (a train to Honiton, then a taxi to Branscombe) so we had no issues with parking. This is a great place to stay if you want to stay locally and not explore the area too extensively. We visited Sidmouth, The Donkey Sanctuary & Seaton by bus and did many local walks (including the coastal path). You can easily walk to the beach from the cottage but if you take the footpath it is a good idea to have walking boots or wellingtons on, particularly if there has been heavy rain! The Mason Arms opposite the cottage is excellent for food, but booking is essential, it is more of a restaurant than a pub, so unless you are prepared to sit outside it is not possible to “pop over for a pint” in the evenings. There is no shop in Branscombe, so come prepared with your supplies – we found Sainsburys delivered to the cottage. If you have a car you can easily access nearby Beer which does have a high street and local shops if you run out of anything. There is no mobile phone signal (only on the beach) but plenty of free wifi in the cottage. There isn’t an ATM in the village but the beach café, the forge and The Mason Arms can all take card payments. Overall this is a delightful place to come and unwind & get away from it all. Would highly recommend.
PERFECT - pet friendly, gorgeous 18th century cottage. Spent a lovely, sunny week in May/June 2017 at this beautiful 18th century cottage. It’s a little gem with everything you could possibly want from a holiday. No negatives whatsoever. Situated in pretty Branscombe right opposite a lovely pub (The Masons Arms) which serves gorgeous food. The interior in the cottage is amazing with roof beams and a little Juliet balcony, which our little dog sat on admiring the view. Its a 10-minute walk to the lovely beach with outstanding views of the Jurassic coast. Would definitely recommend a visit and hopefully we will return in the near future. (thank you Mr T for finding such a lovely, quiet cottage).
