Delightful detached 1930s house, in a truly lovely peaceful setting surrounded by the stunning Devon countryside and valley in the picturesque seaside village of Branscombe on the Jurassic Coast. The spectacular beach is less than a 10-minute walk, or a 2-minute drive. In the village there is the famous 700-year-old award winning Mason's Arms Inn, a minute walk down a small hill. Further on are the National Trust Old Bakery Tea Rooms, Mill, museum, working forge and second traditional inn 'The Fountain Head' serving good food and local brews. 

An ideal location for walkers with stunning coastal footpaths over the cliff tops to the popular Regency coastal town of Sidmouth with Esplanade, splendid variety of shops, cafes, restaurants, cinema, theatre and indoor swimming pool a 10-minute drive.  The famous Donkey Sanctuary at Weston is close by.

In the other direction Lyme Regis, known as 'The Pearl of Dorset' famous for fossil hunting a 20 minute drive. The picturesque fishing village of Beer a 10-minute drive with the Quarry Caves, Pecorama model railway/play station/pleasure gardens.  A beautiful tranquil seaside house with spectacular views to enjoy a relaxing holiday.
 

ACCOMMODATION:  Homely and full of nostalgia, retaining many original features including parquet floors and fire places with 1930s motif tiling.  Charmingly furnished to a comfortable standard.  Entrance into Hall.  Sitting room with stunning countryside views, open fire, window seat, table and chairs.  Dining room.  Both rooms with double aspect and French doors, leading to the gardens overlooking the Devon countryside.  Excellent Kitchen with Shaker style units.  Pantry.    Small Utility room with washing machine. 

Stairs to first floor.  All bedrooms with wardrobes and original decorative fireplaces.  Bedroom 1: Twin beds, (height 29"), dual aspect with lovely views.  Bedroom 2: Double, (standard height).  Bedroom 3: Single bed, (height 27") garden view.  Bedroom 4: Single bed, (height 27"), countryside views.  One step down from first floor landing Hall to Bathroom: Bath, basin, WC.   Sloping eaves.

FACILITIES:  Bed linen inclusive.  Towels, please bring your own or hire £8 per set (one bath + one hand towel).  Electricity/central heating downstairs/electric panel heating upstairs, inclusive.  Ceramic hob and electric oven.  Microwave.  Dishwasher.  Fridge/freezer.  Washing machine.  Folding bed.  TV.  CD.  Free Wi-FiTelephone, money for calls to be left in property.

OUTDOOR FACILITIES:   Private pretty enclosed large gardens, varying levels, take care with children.  6 steps from garden leads up to wild orchard, not cut to grass with washing line.  Garden table and chairs.   Two wooden benches.

Parking in nearby lanes and a slip road, above and behind the road outside.  There is also some parking in The Square at the bottom of the hill.

Thank you for a lovely stayover our half term holidays. We loved the house and its surroundings. We were a party of 6 with 3 kids and had a brilliant time.  We went for lots of walks, Beer and Sidmouth when the weather was good. We even has a few sunny days.  We have found fossils in Lyme Regis which was great.  Wonderful week.  Tamara, Ashley, Flint, Scarlett Revell and Kate and Isis Kenny

Came to stay for a week with my 82 year old mother. The house itself is superb, especially the kitchen. Loved the feeling that time had stood still in the 1930’s . Very quiet and tranquil- just what me and my mum needed.  Would love to come back.  Annie and Sally (Farnsham)

We stayed here for 2 weeks. The weather was really nice most of the time and we could eat outside. The view is great. After 2 weeks we are really relaxed and we can go back to the city.  Christian, Leo and Sibylle – Germany

Our third time at Maycoes and we love it more than ever. Great weather and walks, fish from Beer and Sidmouth and vast numbers of crab sandwiches. Such a treat to have 2 lovely pubs to walk to and the Fountains Head still our favourite.  Really grumpy about having to leave today.  Sue, Miranda and Kate.
